The NKY MLK Day of Service brings together volunteers from across Northern Kentucky to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy through meaningful service. Volunteers will work with local nonprofits, schools, and community partners to make a lasting impact in our region.

Meet the Event Host
Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Crestview Hills, KY, is a welcoming ELCA congregation committed to faith, service, and community. Through initiatives like the Community Impact Program, Gloria Dei supports local nonprofits and neighbors in need. As host of the NKY MLK Day of Service 2026, the church continues its tradition of fostering community engagement and honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy through meaningful action.
WHAT TO EXPECT
NKY MLK Day of Service – Tentative Schedule
📅 Monday, January 19, 2026
🕘 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
📍 Gloria Dei Lutheran Church (Check-In & Closing)
9:00 – 9:45 AM
Check-In, Breakfast & Blessing
- Volunteers arrive at Gloria Dei
- Check-in table: name tags, site assignments, waiver forms (if needed)
- Light breakfast served (coffee, pastries, fruit)
- Welcome & Blessing from Pastor Jason
- Brief overview of Dr. King’s legacy and the spirit of service
9:45 – 10:00 AM Departure to Sites
- Site leaders gather assigned volunteers
- Transportation arranged (carpool or vans if applicable)
- Volunteers head to their designated community partner sites
10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Service Projects (2.5-3 hours)
- Volunteers work on site-specific projects (pantry stocking, cleaning, sorting donations, outreach support, etc.)
- Site leaders ensure safety, track attendance, and take photos
1:00 – 1:30 PM Return to Gloria Dei
- Volunteers travel back from sites
- Site leaders check volunteers back in
1:00 – 1:45 PM Lunch & Fellowship
- Lunch served at Gloria Dei (sponsored meal)
- Open fellowship time — meet other volunteers, share stories from the day
- Recognition of sponsors and partners
1:45 – 2:00 PM Reflection & Closing
- Brief reflection led by Pastor Jason
- Volunteers complete post-event surveys (digital or paper)
- Closing prayer & group photo
